shpower
Plots powers as function of length
Contents
Syntax
shpower (j)
Description
Plots powers as function of length. Each curve corresponds with a value for f, stepping down from 1 with steps 0.2. The animal develops through the embryo (red), juvenile (blue) and adult (green) stages.
Input
- j: optional scalar with plot number (default: all)
Output figures for embryo (red), juvenile (blue) and adult (green) stages.
- fig 1 Heat, which dissipates into the enironment
- fig 2 Assimilation power (power input into reserves, extracted from food)
- fig 3 Catabolic power
- fig 4 Somatic maintenance plus heating plus growth power
- fig 5 Specific heat, which dissipates into the environment
- fig 6 Specific assimilation power (power input into reserves, extracted from food)
- fig 7 Specific catabolic power % fig 8 Specific somatic maintenance plus heating plus growth power
Remarks
Notice that dissipation makes a jump at puberty because maturation ceases and allocation to reproduction staert. All maturity investment dissipates, but most of the reproductioninvestment does not. The powers are in terms of kJ/d, and the specific powers in kJ/mol.d, where the power has been devided by the structural mass. See pages 78 ff of the DEB-book.
